Are you getting married but having a hard time finding the right photographer? With an over abundance of “professional” photographers out there, its hard to find the right one, and the qualified one, to take your wedding pictures. This is such a special day you need to make sure you have the right person there to capture the moment. Not everyone with a DSLR camera is a professional, and may not even understand the art of photography. To help you find the right person for your wedding day, read my top 7 list below and then click on the link at the bottom to find out what theknot.com has to say about it.

  1. Do your research. Make sure to look around at your options. Dont just use the first person who comes up on google. Ask around and see who your friends used. Word of mouth is a great way to find out about a great photographer!
  2. Use Facebook. Most professional photographers have a FB page with albums of their pictures, search for photography in your city and see what pops up. You never know who you can find!
  3. Find out what style you like. Do you like photojournalistic styles that document your day in a slice of life format? Do you like artistic filters to make your photos look vintage? Do you like bright bold colors? Figuring out your fav. style will help with eliminating some of your options.
  4. Meet with the photographers. Narrow down your options to your top 3 and grab a cup of coffee with them. See who you can mesh well with and who you can feel comfortable around. Its very important to find someone you enjoy being around as they will be following you around for your special day.
  5. Find the one with the right packages for you. Not every photog offers the same deals. Figure out whats important to you. If you what a wedding album, find one that offers that in their package. Do you want on online gallery of images to order prints from? Are the digital files important to you? Figure out what you want and make sure your photographer can offer what you need.
  6. Figure out your budget. Lets be realistic here, professional photographers are not cheap. But there is a real reason why. They have a talent that that not everyone has. Not everyone can take a beautiful picture. Not everyone has that eye. Photography is a fine art that takes great talent and it is worth all you will pay for it. Don’t skimp on the photog, you will regret it if you do. But not everyone has the budget for the most top notch photog. If not, look for a newbie who has the talent, but maybe not the experience yet. Most the time they will be willing to work with your budget, but still produce the great quality you desire.
  7. Find someone you love. As I mentioned before, photography is important to your special day, so make sure to find someone who you absolutely love. These pictures will be what you show your grandkids some day, you want pictures to help your special day live on and on. If budget is a problem (trust me, I get that part!), don’t settle on someone just bc they are in your price range! Keep looking, I’m sure you will find someone who can match your budget and still produce the quality of pictures that you will love.
